It all depends on how the tattoo looks, how bad the line work is, how old it is, and if there's blown out lines. if it's just the lines that bother you and not the whole tattoo you should wait until it ages a bit and have a professional reputable artist do a touch up over it.. I experienced some minor fading because i put too much lotion on too soon. i went back to the place i got the tattoo and asked for a touch up. they asked me who did mine and i said i couldnt remember. there are three people who work there and the two there said they didnt do it and the guy who probably did works another day.. Here's a before and after touch up of my ankle tattoo. the first one was god-awful. i came back two years later (i initially got the tattoo before they set a time limit for free touch ups) and got the touch up for free. just contact your artist and see how much, if any, he charges for touch ups! that's the easiest thing to do..

(someone else's work is a different story).. Every tattoo shop i've been to offers free touch-ups. you'd be best off calling and asking if they do it, i'm pretty sure they will..
